WHAT WE DO

As a covenant community formed by the triune God,
we are called to share together in the ongoing life and ministry of Jesus Christ,
proclaiming and demonstrating the Gospel publicly in word and deed
in the power of the Holy Spirit.

OUR COMMUNITY

Our church community engages in worship, various missions, community outreach projects, ministry, fellowship and much more!   We are a church that believes and works to be in community. Gathered in worship and sent to serve in the world with emphasis in our local communities sharing our love of God and neighbor.

About Us

The unity of believers in Christ is reflected in the rich diversity of the people of God. In Christ, by the power of the Holy Spirit, God unites all of us through baptism regardless of race, ethnicity, sexual preference, gender identity, disability, geography or theological conviction. Christ invited any and all to the table who wished to follow Him.  At First United Presbyterian Church we believe in doing the same. A community is only as strong as its most marginalized member and at First United Presbyterian we seek to rectify the idea of community as a sent people who see all people as beloved children of God.

First United Presbyterian Church is a member congregation of the Presbyterian Church (USA ) and of the Pittsburgh Presbytery.  We stand in the PCUSA tradition and belief that all are welcome into the fullness of the church including but not limited to worship, membership, governance, and participation in the sacraments (baptism and communion). Stated plainly, we practice that all are truly welcome at First United Presbyterian Church in Tarentum.
